U-TURN DECISION

1.Today, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had announced teaching of sciences and mathematics in English or its official abbreviation PPSMI will be switched back to Bahasa Melayu efffectively in 2012.
2.The decision is not surprising to many Malaysian because lately the government been having lot of pressure from the opposition parties and related NGOs asking to switch back PPSMI to Bahasa Melayu.
3.The day before the announcement was made, Tan Sri Muhyiddin already told to the press that he had studied survey done by all parties including an opinion from ex-PM Tun Mahathir regarding PPSM.
4.From my opinion, this u-turn decision have pro and cons. But, truly i'm disagree with this decision. The government should not simply change the curriculum which can jeorpadized our future generation.
5.It would be best if government continue PPSMI but in other part the PPSMI is not an obligatory to all student. So, the teacher can use English or Bahasa Melayu in teaching sciences and maths. I think the best way to solve this PPSMI issue is the government should give an option to a student to choose the language they preferred. Different student have diferent capability, mentality, IQ level and etc, so its a best if they can choose what the language they want to use..
6. It's really sad, reverting back to teaching in BM does not help in bringing the country forward to compete in the globalised world. From my experience, students will have a hard time if they were to study science and maths in IPT/matriculation especially in medical field.

agree with you. I think If the government want to eliminate this program, the least they can do is to cont PPSMI in secondary school for preparation of higher education...
