Solar Eclipse

1. The ring like solar eclipse occur on Friday 15th January 2010 which is the longest in millenium. The astronomers said Maldives is the best place to see this phenomenon. In Asia included Malaysia, it is only partial eclipse can be seen.

2. Nowadays, solar eclipse can be estimated from astronomers calculation. It shows how far the development of sciences of astronomy.

3. In islam, stated that when there was solar eclipse occur on the day of prophet Muhammad's son Ibrahim passed away, a few people said it because of mourning of Muhammad, but Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) declined that and then he said

"the sun and the moon are two of the signs (signs of God's Greatness) of Allah; they do not darken for the death or birth of any person, but allah strikes fear into his servants by means of them. So when you they darken, remember and mention Allah(Takbir&Doa), declare his Greatness, offer prayer, give in charity and supplicate to him and seek his forgiveness. (hadith muslim)

4. In Malaysia with multireligious country, we can see a colourful practices done by Muslims, Budhhas and Hindus.Heads bowed in silent prayers, purification baths taken, noisy neighbours, abstinence from eat and curtains drawn. These were some of the things malaysian did during partial eclipse

5.While the muslims are encouraged to offer 'solat gerhana' and attend special 'khutbah, the Chinese make a lot of noise by beating pots and drums to chase away the 'celestial dog' that is biting off a piece of sun, the Indians believe that they should not cook or eat when the eclipse is over, they should bathe to cleanse themselves.

6. After the flame issue of 'Kalimah Allah' occur few weeks before, let us shake hand and together in harmony to build our love country for prosperous and peaceful.
