H1N1 & HAND HYGIENE

1.Until this blog had been written, there were already 4 deaths related to H1N1 in Malaysia, 2 imported cases and 2 more was from local transmission.
2. Our Director General of Health Minister announced that local transmission overtake the number of imported cases too fast. Many education centres were closed in regards of outbreak.
3.Here, i doesn't want to elaborate more on how the progression of H1N1 now. But, i would like to convey to all of readers how important hand hygiene in prevention spreading of viral infection, not only influenza A H1N1 furthermore in preventing all the other types of viruses and bacterial.
4.The public should know hand hygiene is very important. As in Islam also stated that hygiene is a part of Iman.
5.Scientifically, most of viruses transmitted via direct contact (ie:touch) and droplets (ie: coughing particles in the air).
6.To prevent from this transmission to occur, a few steps can be considered and to be practised.
- wash your hand after using toilet
- wash your hand before meal
- if necessary, try to use antiseptic hand wash soap at home
- if you are having URTI (cold flu ilness) symptom, try to reduce
contact with immunosuppresed people like elderly and infant/children
- cover you mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief if you are having coughing, sneezing
- if you have a baby, minimize your baby from exposure to crowded area like market or
shopping complex.
- use a mask if you have direct contact with suspected or confirmed H1N1 patient
7. Hopefully, from this few steps, we all can contibute helping to reduce the transmission of H1N1 pandemic.
8.From today onwards, we can practiced a good hand hygiene as well as can teach our children basic hand hygiene.
